Empower your community

Introducing A Year on the Land:

A land stewardship and wild food based curriculum to get humans back on the land!

In a time when we as a whole are more disconnected from nature than ever, its more important that ever to get our local communities engaged in the landscape in a real and positive way.

For this reason, James, expert forager and chef, is offering a completely new, year-long, nature based curriculum that is designed to get humans of all ages back out on the landscape searching for the treasures that have bound us together since time immemorial…

That treasure is food, specifically wild food. The search for wild food that exists all around us has given him a newfound appreciation and bond with the landscape, and is a skill that is accessible to anyone!

This program is for park systems, local schools with access to the outdoors and organizations that want more engagement from the community in a fun and accessible way!

Why commit ?

People want to connect to their landscape with their own hands, and we can teach them how to do so safely and sustainably.

  • Guidance from an experienced educator. Give your community access to an experienced, lifelong forager and passionate naturalist for guidance on safe and sustainable foraging and harvesting practices as well as lessons in land stewardship.

  • Discounted rate. These monthly classes are discounted with your commitment to a year or 6 months with us. James normally sells out classes at a higher ticket cost per person.

  • Tailored to your space and community. We can also work with you to build out a convenient location for the class if you don’t have ample outdoor space.

  • Convenience. Instead of having to find the budget to hire an educator, or scrounge for the right person, we make it easy by taking care of it all for you—and we even help with marketing and spreading the word about classes as well as class materials and resources.

  • Guaranteed engagement. For the past three years, James has taken hundreds of people from all around Ohio out onto the land, educating and inspiring others to learn about the many amazing native plants that exist in our diverse state. He also has a quite large social media following which has boosted his class attendance.

  • Diverse skillset. With a lifetime of experience foraging, over 10 years as a chef, and 4 years experience as a farmer of mushrooms and other unique edibles, James’ experience is well rounded and easily digestible to many different audiences.
